Learning ergonomics through bad designs - miscommunicating entry signs.

One of the best, and most entertaining, ways to learn about ergonomics is by looking at bad designs.

So what is wrong with this picture? The entrance to this store had the word "entry" labeled on both sides of the glass door. But it is not an exit so they put a "do not enter" sign right underneath it. Does that make any sense?

Simple, effective and intuitive communication is a goal of good ergonomics. Placing signage with competing messages next to each other does not do that.
