The Bottom Line

This is one of the best Christmas tree stands around. When it comes to a good, ergonomic Christmas tree stand go old school - heavy gauge welded steel. This stand by De Por Vida, has almost everything you want in a Christmas tree stand.

Pros

  • Wide and strong legs hold big and tall trees.
  • Large reservoir supplies water for large trees.
  • Powder coated, heavy gauge steel is rugged and corrosion resistant.

Cons

  • A quality stand like this comes with a large price tag.

Description

  • A large, wide, strong base can easily and safely support trees as tall as 12'.
  • Keeping a cut tree healthy requires a lot of water and a reservoir of nearly 2 gallons provides that.
  • Large eye bolts are easy to turn and strong enough to hold he largest trees.
  • This is a stand that will last a lifetime and the high price reflects that.

Guide Review - De Por Vida Heavy Duty Welded Christmas Tree Stand

The De Por Vida Heavy Duty Christmas Tree Stand is solidly built out of heavy gauge steel welded together. It has a wide base with a leg span of 21.5" and can hold a trunk 6.25" thick. That translates to a 12' tall Christmas tree.

The tree is held in place with four very large eye bolts that have a large head for easy turning. Additionally the stand has a large 1.7 gallon reservoir to quench the thirst of that large tree.

There's A Weak Link In This Heavy Duty Stand, Member RoddHall1

I bought this $50 Christmas tree stand with great optimism. It looks great. It's heavy. It is made out of heavy gauge welded steel. The powder coating looks like it would last forever. It has a wide base and a big water reservoir. It's even packaged in a heavy-duty box. In short, it is a Heavy Duty stand ... but for one flaw that makes the entire thing useless. The large eye bolts that you screw in to clamp the base of the tree are threaded through a piece of metal that, although heavy gauge, is not heavy enough nor hard enough to be threaded. The first time I tried to screw the eye bolts in to clamp the base of the tree, three of the four of them stripped the threads on the metal they pass through. I was using only my fingers to turn the eye bolts, no tools, and I'm not an especially strong guy. My tree was less than 7 feet tall. The trunk was less than 5 1/2 inches in diameter, well within the manufacturer's limits. But, as soon as the end of the eye bolts met the base of the tree and created a slight amount of resistance, the threads stripped. As I said, everything else about the stand was top notch. But this one flaw was like putting bicycle tires on a Hummer. It was great to look at but was completely non-functional.
