11. YouTube
YouTube videos are streamed right to your iPhone. View thumbnails of the video and tap them for more information. Or just start playing them in widescreen mode. You can also bookmark your favorite videos.Streaming speed is fast over cellular or Wi-Fi signals. However resolution is reduced over cellular signals.
12. Stocks
Start typing a company name or ticker symbol and the iPhone finds your stock for you an adds it to the stock display screen. You can see all the current prices at a glance (color coded red and green for loss and gain). Tap on a specific stock and a graph of its performance is updated. You can even select the time line of the graph.Stocks are powered by Yahoo's online stock tracker and are delayed by the industry standard length of time.
13. Maps
Maps is powered by Google Maps on the iPhone. The same great search and direction functions found on the online version of Google Maps is here as well as the ability to switch between map and satellite view (no hybrid view though). It also has bookmarking capability and traffic warnings in areas supporting that function.14. Weather
You can store a number of different cities and flick between them to check the current weather. Icons give you a quick overview (i.e. partly cloudy, thunderstorms, etc.). Details of common weather related information are listed as well.15. Clock
The iPhone clock has four applications: world clock, alarm, stopwatch and timer. You can house a number of different cities around the world in your world clock and quickly see what time it is there.
The alarm is an alarm clock. Set a time, action and sound and the iPhone goes off as scheduled, with snooze capability if you so desire. You can even add a custom label. A cool time entry interface makes it fun too.
The stopwatch has a large readout down to the tenth of a second. It has start, stop, lap and reset functions.
The timer uses the rotary time entry interface as well. It counts down (up to 24 hours) and plays a tune of your choice.
16. Calculator
The iPhone calculator is a standard, non-scientific calculator. Basic math with a memory recall function is all you will get out of this one. It does add correctly, just no higher math or formula functions.17. Notes
Notes is the iPhone's notepad. You can type in text and save it on the phone. Graphically it looks like a yellow legal pad and even uses a handwritten font. Tapping the envelope button opens up an e-mail message already populated with the contents of the note.18. Settings
This is where you set all you settings. E-mail login information, Wi-Fi passwords, ringtones, wallpaper and everything else you need. You can also activate airplane mode here. Airplane mode turns off all your cellular signals, but still lets you use the other applications.
19. iTunes Activation & Integration
Enhancing usability every step of the way, Apple rethought the activation process. You simply take the iPhone and connect it to your computers USB port. iTunes (version 7.3 or later) recognizes the iPhone just like an iPod. You enter your information in the screens and it is ready to go.A few of the steps may take a couple of minutes (up to six for the wireless account credit check), but you should still be up and running in 10-15 minutes. You can even port your existing cell phone number easily by entering it when asked.
Integration with iTunes is seamless. You plug the iPhone into your desktop and iTunes syncs the iPhone's photos, videos, music, podcasts, calendar and contact information.
