Best Ergonomic Products from ErgoExpo '09

Intriguing and Ingenious Products Exhibited at the 2009 ErgoExpo

By , About.com Guide

The ErgoExpo is the largest consumer based ergonomics conference in the world. And a main component of the ErgoExpo is the product exposition showcasing some wonderfully ergonomic products. Here are the products from the 2009 ErgoExpo that captured my attention.

1. NaturaLux Filters

The NaturaLux Filters takes a regular fluorescent light source and makes it a color-balanced, full spectrum light source. This counteracts many of the problems with fluorescent lights, gives a truer color representation, brightens the area and generally improves your mood and productivity. Oh yeah, it reduces eye strain as well.

2. Palm Rest Driving Supports

The Palm Rests are palm supports that attach to your vehicle's steering wheel at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions. They support the heel of your hand and encourage the natural wrist position while driving. This prevents the wrists from breaking causing the arms to lower and the shoulders to slump. That in turn causes a lot of problems and pain while driving.

3. Herman_Miller Setu Chair

The Setu is a simple ergonomic chair. It doesn't have any mechanisms to adjust, just a reactive frame and a mesh support structure in place of cushions. The Setu comes in many configurations from occasional chairs to a high back option with an ottoman. It is stylish, but most importantly it is downright comfortable.

4. Herman-Miller Embody Ergonoic Chair

The Embody is the succesor the Herman-Miller Aeron ergonomic chair. It is quite an impressive chair with a reactive support structure and good adjustability.

5. ErgoMotion Keyboard

The ErgoMotion Keyboard from Smartfish Technologies is an intelligent ergonomic keyboard. It has a processor that monitors your typing activity and, when appropriate, it repositions the keyboard in a number of ways to alter your hand position. And that prevents repetitive stress injuries. And the best part is that it is automated so you don't have to do a thing.

6. Fellowes Gliding Palm Supports

Fellowes has made some good wrist rests and palm supports for the keyboard and mouse for a while now. There new entry is a Gliding Palm Support. This one actually attaches to your mouse and supports the natural wrist position while using your mouse instead of just providing a place to rest your hand when inactive.
