Guide Review - Shur-Line Teflon Coated Paint Tray

Shur-Line's Teflon Coated Paint Tray is an idea who's time has come. If you want an ergonomic solution to cleaning up your painting equipment, you have three options: hire some one else to do it, dispose of the mess, or use technology to your advantage.

Option one isn't always an option. Option 2 isn't always economically or environmentally sound. Option 3 is where the Shur-Line Teflon coated paint tray comes into play.

The slippery, non-stick surface lets paint flow off of it more easily during a wet clean-up. But even better is the fact that it gives you the ability to get a quick and complete clean-up with dry paint. In fact, it is easier to do when the paint is dry.

This paint tray is made for latex paints. And, just to be clear, any dried latex paint can be peeled off most plastic or metal paint trays. But it does take a while to get them clean that way (trust me, I know). The Shur-Line Teflon Coated Paint Tray only takes a few minutes to clean, and it will look brand new when you are done.

Peeling the Shur-Line Teflon Coated Paint Tray is almost as simple as the advertising makes it out to be. You can peel off the paint easily, but that's best achieved when the coat is thick; a thin coat of paint will likely need to be rubbed off. If you're planning to dispose of the tray when you're done using it, the paint should be completely dry (for safety and environmental reasons).

The rivets at the top of the tray can cause the paint to tear as well, so take a little extra care with pulling the paint up around them. (Notice the picture on the package has the paint below the rivets.)

If some paint is left on the tray after peeling, it can be rubbed off with a kitchen scrub pad in a few minutes. The Teflon coating is tough enough to take the mild abrasion.
