The Gibson Dark Fire Guitar and the Ergonomics of the Knob

Gibson has delivered a powerful and impressive instrument in the Dark Fire guitar. This is a thing of technology and beauty and it is meant to be played. To make controlling that technology easier, Gibson designed the Dark Fire's Master Control Knob with an eye on ergonomics. The Master Control Knob controls a lot of options, which you can change on the fly during a set. The knob has been designed to make it easier to dial in the right setting no matter what the setting, be it a dark night club or a sun drenched outdoor stage.

Yeah…it’s a technology monster all right…too bad Gibson couldn’t take the time to debug the circuitry enough to make sure that the guitar could actually be charged enough to work. My Dark Fire (the one that I sold another guitar to buy and paid $3200 for at Guitar Center) sits in it’s case…unusable…because the wiring has some kind of problem and prevents the guitar from being charged with the supplied charging unit. This is A BRAND NEW GUITAR!!! I’m dissapointed and disgusted that Gibson is putting hype over substance…I’m old enough to remember how Gibson used to be…and when the pearl-inlaid name on that open-book headstock meant that you were getting the best guitar in the world when you laid your hard-earned green down. Gibson is NOT a musician’s guitar any more…it’s a trophy for Wall Street bankers to hang on their walls. Thanks Henry!!! You just sold another guitar for Paul Reed Smith…and I’m going to be the one buying it. My Dark Fire will be Guitar Center’s problem as of tomorrow, December 31st, 2008. NEVER AGAIN!!! My advice to players…stay away from this one…you WILL be disappointed!!!
Fools,darkfire is a prototype and should be treated as such.Its one of the best guitars out and you have to know how to use it like a traditional to understand its technology.Screw Paul Reed Smith.Those are over priced guitars that I can build at home.Don’t expect a guitar to be like an old school guitar when you start making it a robot self tuning guitar.The Darkfire is only for the patient and elite.If you think that anything man made and technologically enhanced is perfect,your dillusional,nothing in the world works perfect.Love the DarkFire and would buy another,charging is a fixable flaw.
