For Better or For Backpacks

Monday September 3, 2007
The comic strip For Better or For Worse has given us a humorous slant on the tragic state of backpacks in our schools. Overloaded, they place the weight of the academic world on the shoulders of our children. All while making the impressionable youth believe that and over-sized pack with all the latest gimmicks and gadgets is the coolest thing imaginable.

Have a chuckle with this comic strip. then look at your kid when they head out the door for school. Do they remind you of April in the slightest. If so then you have some work to do.

An ergonomic backpack is one that does two things. It is a book bag that performs the task it needs to, that is carrying what you need and stowing away efficiently. It is also a bag that does NOT cause pain, injury or deformation.

A lot of times those two needs are at odds with each other. Sometimes you have to think outside the bag to find a solution. The gear is only half the solution. Lightening the load is the other.
