Organizational Ergonomics

Monday April 23, 2007
Organization and ergonomics seem to go hand in hand. When you are trying to improve the ergonomics of a system you have to look at how things are organized. That doesn't mean things need to be all neat and tidy. They just need to be laid out in an effective and efficient manner.

Applying this kind of thinking to your daily life can reduce stress, error and frustration and increase your effectiveness. Whether it is looking at the layout of your kitchen cabinets, your office desk or your movie collection, a good layout can make all the difference.

Following the organizational ergonomics Rule of Three is a good way to categorize things by frequency of use. By organizing things by there frequency of use you gain a lot of efficiency and ease of mind by ensuring what you use most is the easiest to get to. And what you hardly ever touched is stuffed in the back out of the way.
