Somebody Erased My Keyboard

Thursday September 14, 2006
A unique keyboard has hit the market. It is unique because it is blank. The new Das Keyboard II wipes the slate clean and gives you a keyboard without letters. The result, you actually type faster.

Believe it or not, you actually know where the keys are on the keyboard, even if you are a hunt and pecker. The problem is your brain gets in the way. You want feedback and reassurance so you look at the keys. But you do not have to.

By removing the letters you are bypassing an unnecessary step in the typing process. Metadot, the makers of the Das Keyboard, have reported that you can actually double your typing speed. Though most of you won't double your speed, you will get a marked increase in both speed and confidence.

To gild the deal the Das Keyboard II now has gold switches. This gives you that wonderful click you found in old keyboards. That is the good kind of feedback to have.

I wear the lettering of the most used keys within 6 months anyway. ;-)
